My Take
Mike Kelly interests me as a businessman who carried the instincts of the marketplace into Congress. From Butler, Pennsylvania, and a Notre Dame graduate, he has represented the state's northwest since 2011, a district stretching from Erie toward Pittsburgh's outer suburbs. Whatever one makes of his politics, I tend to trust legislators who came up running an actual enterprise: they have met payrolls and felt the weight of real numbers, which can ground policy in lived experience rather than abstraction. I respect politicians who keep their feet planted firmly in the place that sent them.
