My Take

Mike Lee is a figure I find easier to study than to like or dislike casually, because he's so deliberate about ideology. A Brigham Young-trained lawyer who clerked before entering politics, he's served as a United States senator from Utah since 2011 and built a reputation as a constitutional originalist who genuinely seems to relish legal argument. Whatever you make of his positions, he's not a politician of vague slogans; he tends to ground things in text and theory. That intellectual seriousness can be admirable or maddening depending on where you sit. I'd rather engage a senator who shows his reasoning than one who hides it.
