Miki Mizuasa

Miki Mizuasa — born in Osaka in 1984, which honestly tells you something before you even learn anything else about her. She's listed at 170cm, which is noticeably tall for her generation in Japan, and I picture someone who carried herself with a certain confidence. She worked under two stage names and came to be described as one of the most popular trans performers in Japan, and I read her as someone who chose not to perform her private life for anyone. She went her own way, didn't make noise about it, and kept her own counsel. I respect that quiet self-determination more than I can really articulate.
