Rosa Mendes

Milena Roucka, better known as Rosa Mendes, fascinates me precisely because of the range of her life. A former University of British Columbia economics student who chose to throw herself into pro wrestling is someone making a deliberate, brave bet on herself. She managed Primo and Epico in WWE and became a regular on Total Divas, which means she could perform both inside the ropes and in front of reality cameras, two very different kinds of nerve. Wrestling demands more than athleticism; it demands the willingness to sell a piece of yourself for the crowd. She did all of it, and I respect performers who commit that completely.
