Min Tanaka

Tanaka was a dancer first: butoh, an international career, a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from France in 1990. He did not act in a film until 57, and that debut, The Twilight Samurai, won him the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actor. He farms, trains his body in the field, then steps onto a set with a presence you cannot rehearse.
