Nadine Dorries

Dorries is one of those figures I can't help watching. A Liverpool-born former nurse who became a Conservative MP and rose to Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, she's also a novelist and blogger, a combination that paints someone unafraid to speak her mind. She held her seat from 2005 to 2023 and then jumped to Reform UK, a move that captures her restless, go-her-own-way streak. Whether you read that as conviction or as reading the wind, she clearly charts her own course. I find unconventional careers like hers endlessly compelling to follow.
