Nanako Ishide

Nanako Ishide is one of those people who quietly refuses to be just one thing. Standing at 148 cm, she's got the kind of compact energy that tends to be underestimated right up until the moment it isn't. There's something about that combination — the solid academic foundation, a kid from Matsudo who formed a costume-contest troupe in fourth grade, the willingness to be funny and serious in the same career — that tells you this person does things on her own terms. I find that genuinely interesting, and I suspect she's funnier and sharper than most casual observers would guess.
