Natalia Verbeke

What draws me to Natalia Verbeke is the quiet authority of a stage-trained actor who crossed an ocean and made it work. Born in Buenos Aires, raised in Madrid from age eleven and schooled at a serious drama academy, she broke through in Spanish cinema with The Other Side of the Bed. I tend to trust performers who earned their craft on the boards before facing a camera, and her career suggests exactly that discipline. She feels like an actor whose best moments live in the smallest gestures.
