My Take

Necro, born Ron Braunstein in Brooklyn, is the kind of artist I root for precisely because he refuses to be palatable. Founding Psycho+Logical-Records in 1999 was a statement: he would build his own lane in horrorcore rather than chase a label's approval. What impresses me is the breadth, rapping, producing, composing, even acting, all in service of one uncompromising vision. His company, from working with his brother Ill Bill to teaming with the legendary Kool G Rap, signals a man who keeps the truest collaborators close. Grotesque imagery sitting alongside real craft, that contradiction is the whole point. I have endless respect for artists who guard their own style this fiercely.
