Nelly Korda

Nelly Korda is genuinely one of the most exciting athletes in any sport right now, not just women's golf. Born in 1998 in Bradenton, Florida — into an intensely athletic family, her dad Petr is a former tennis pro — she somehow makes a sport famous for slow, methodical precision look almost effortless. The 2021 Women's PGA Championship was her first major breakthrough, and then winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics that same year cemented her as the real deal on the world stage. At 178 cm she has this commanding presence on the course, and her ball-striking is just clean and powerful in a way that stands out. She's still so young and already has multiple major titles to her name, which means we're likely watching someone build a Hall of Fame career in real time. I find myself genuinely rooting for her every tournament.
