My Take
Honestly, the name alone does most of the heavy lifting here — Numajiro Kesen, a pro wrestler who named himself after his hometown of Kesennuma, a windswept fishing port on the Miyagi coast. He was there at Michinoku Pro's founding in 1992, broke out as the caveman Yone Genjin, and has held Tohoku tag and junior heavyweight titles — a guy grinding in the regional pro wrestling scene, carrying a hometown on his back with zero irony. Kesennuma has had its share of hardship, especially after 2011, and there's something that feels right about one of its sons showing up and refusing to disappear.
