My Take

Patrick Bristow is a character actor's character actor, and I have enormous respect for that craft. As Peter on Ellen and Patrick on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, plus a turn in Pain & Gain, he built a career on scene-stealing precision rather than top billing. That is harder than it looks: you have to elevate every scene without hijacking it. The fact that he also directs and picked up a Garland Award in 2007 tells me he understands comedy from the inside out. Performers who stay working and funny across decades earn my admiration more than any one-hit star ever could.
