Peter M. Brant

Peter Brant fascinates me as a man who turned wealth into cultural influence. Born in Queens in 1947, he has been a film producer, industrialist, polo player, and one of the most consequential contemporary art collectors alive, all while married to model Stephanie Seymour. What I respect is not the spending but the eye: he did not merely accumulate art, he championed artists and pushed them into the wider conversation. Returning fortune to culture is a far more graceful path than mere acquisition, and I find his particular brand of high-stakes connoisseurship genuinely admirable rather than indulgent.
