My Take

Petr Jiracek is the unglamorous engine every successful team secretly needs. A box-to-box midfielder from the small Czech town of Tuchorice, he made his living on relentless running and intelligent positioning rather than star power, and I find that kind of selfless labor easy to admire. At 180 cm he is unremarkable physically, so his value lived in stamina and football brain. His move into coaching after retirement tells me he understands the game cerebrally, not just instinctively, and now passes that reading on to the next generation. I quietly root for these dependable Central European workhorses; the thankless jobs are the noble ones.
