Prince Royce

Prince Royce's bachata carries the sultry warmth of a tropical night. Born in the Bronx to Dominican roots, he reinvented traditional bachata as sleek modern pop, and his breakout reworking of the standard Stand by Me was genuinely striking. I love that he wrote poetry as a teenager before a manager discovered him at nineteen. Moving effortlessly between Spanish and English, he helped push Latin music toward the global center, and he juggles singing, songwriting and acting with real versatility. That romantic voice gets me every time, and I think his cross-cultural reach has been quietly important.
