My Take
Randall Munroe might be my personal favorite on this list: a physicist-turned-cartoonist who somehow says more with stick figures than most artists manage with full color. xkcd dissects science, math, love and the absurdities of being human in a few panels, and his background working at NASA shows in how seriously he takes a ridiculous question. Books like What If? answer impossible hypotheticals with real physics and a straight face, which is harder than it looks. Marrying genuine intellect with humor is rare, and he makes it effortless.
