My Take
Ranjith is the kind of filmmaker I wish more people outside India knew. Working in Malayalam cinema since his 2001 directorial debut, he has balanced commercial appeal with genuine social weight, earning National Film Awards including recognition for a film on social issues. That is a hard tightrope, and most directors fall to one side or the other. He writes, acts, and directs, building stories from the ground up. South Indian cinema rewards anyone willing to look past Bollywood, and creators like Ranjith are exactly why. I respect the seriousness underneath the craft.
