My Take
What I admire about Reginald Hudlin is his refusal to be boxed in. Harvard-educated and one half of the Hudlin Brothers, he moves fluidly between directing, writing, and producing, from films he helmed himself to heavyweight productions like Django Unchained. He even ran BET and co-produced the Academy Awards ceremony. To me he reads as a genuine cultural force, someone who pushed Black storytelling toward the center of mainstream entertainment while quietly mastering both sides of the camera. People who can do it all without losing their voice are rare, and Hudlin clearly belongs in that company. I am a fan.
