My Take
Renate Reinsve is the rare actor whose stardom feels earned the slow way. Years of Norwegian stage work at Trøndelag Teater and Det Norske Teatret gave her an instrument most film stars never develop, and when Joachim Trier handed her The Worst Person in the World, she made indecision itself cinematic — a character flailing through her thirties who somehow never loses our sympathy. Her Cannes Best Actress win felt less like a discovery than a correction. I love that she keeps choosing thorny, interior roles like Sentimental Value rather than cashing in. To my eye she is the most exciting European actress of her generation.
