My Take
René Dif fascinates me precisely because he made joy his life's work. As the male voice of Aqua, he became the sound of late-90s Eurodance, and it's easy to dismiss that as disposable pop. I don't. Crafting something this relentlessly cheerful, and committing to it fully, takes real conviction, and there's a warmth in his delivery that the bubblegum surface hides. A Copenhagen native who sings, raps, DJs and acts, he's more versatile than the novelty-hit narrative suggests. I respect performers who deliver pure fun without apology, and Dif belongs in that small, underrated club.
