Richard S. Fuld

Richard Fuld is one of those figures history cannot ignore. As the last chairman and CEO of Lehman Brothers, steering the firm from its 1994 spinoff until its 2008 collapse, he sits at the very center of the financial crisis that reshaped the global economy. A University of Colorado graduate and famously combative New Yorker, he embodied an era of aggressive Wall Street ambition. I find him a deeply divisive but instructive figure, a reminder that immense power and catastrophic downfall can belong to the same person, and that legacy is rarely simple.
