Richie Jen

Richie Jen has always struck me as the rare megastar who stayed approachable. Emerging from Taiwan and rising through Rock Records in the mid-1990s, he became a defining voice in Mandarin pop, yet he never stopped at singing, branching into acting and even directing. That breadth tells me he is genuinely curious rather than content to coast on fame. I find his warm, slightly wistful vocal style perfectly suited to the kind of songs people carry through their whole lives. Artists this versatile often burn out, but his durability suggests humility, and that, to me, is the real secret to his longevity.
