Rick Priestley deserves far more recognition than he gets. Without him, Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40,000 might never have existed, and tabletop gaming as we know it would look very different. Born in Lincoln and trained at Lancaster, he designed the very grammar of pushing miniatures across a table to tell epic stories, then kept going by founding Warlord Games and co-creating Bolt Action. I have a soft spot for the unseen architects whose work quietly fills countless people's weekends with imagination. Priestley is exactly that kind of behind-the-scenes genius, and he has my applause.
