My Take
Winning the World Junior title once can be luck of the calendar. Winning it twice, in 2025 and 2026, is something else, and I do not think casual viewers appreciate why. Junior figure skating happens during the exact years a male athlete's body is changing fastest. Height, limb length, and weight all shift, and a jump that was reliable last season can simply stop working. Most promising juniors lose a year to that. Nakata, born in 2008, apparently did not, and stacked a Junior Grand Prix Final title and a national silver alongside it. To me that says less about raw talent than about adaptability, the unglamorous work of renegotiating your technique with a body that keeps changing under you. That is also why I would resist crowning him early. The senior ranks are a different problem, judged on presence and program construction as much as jumps. What I want to watch is not whether he wins immediately, but whether that adaptability holds when the standard moves again.
