My Take

Rob Webber earns instant respect from me simply by being a hooker. It's the grimiest, most cerebral job on a rugby pitch, anchoring the scrum, throwing the lineout, doing the unseen graft, and at 183 cm he spent a career absorbing punishment for the cause. What I admire most is the second act: moving into coaching at Saracens, passing his hard-won knowledge to the next generation. That's the mark of someone who loves the game beyond his own playing days. He was never the flashy try-scorer, but the man who builds the platform, and I have a real soft spot for players like that.
