My Take
What fascinates me about Roger Ewing is that he had two distinct creative lives. Most people remember the Los Angeles native as Thad Greenwood on Gunsmoke, but I am more drawn to what came after. Walking away from acting to become a photographer is a quietly bold move; it means trading being watched for the harder work of watching. That tells me he was driven more by the urge to observe and frame the world than by the pull of the spotlight. He passed at the end of 2025, and I think that pivot makes his whole story richer than the resume suggests.
