Ron Nirenberg

Ron Nirenberg interests me as a study in earned trust. He won his first council seat in an upset in 2013, then climbed all the way to lead San Antonio as mayor from 2017 to 2025. That is not a coronation; it is eight years of accumulated credibility steering one of America's largest and most diverse cities. His training in communication at Penn's Annenberg School feels meaningful too, since governing a sprawling community is ultimately about dialogue and persuasion. I tend to respect grounded, climb-the-ladder politicians over parachuted stars, and he reads to me as the former.
