My Take
Ronald de Boer is forever linked to his twin Frank, and the two of them at peak Ajax in the mid-nineties were central to one of the great club sides. His real legacy for me is that homegrown Ajax team that conquered Europe before the Bosman ruling scattered such squads forever. Voted Ajax player of the year in 1997, he was the more instinctive, attacking of the twins. The later Barcelona and Rangers chapters never quite hit those Amsterdam heights, but that's a high bar. Watching the de Boer brothers operate was watching footballing telepathy, and Ronald supplied much of the creative spark.
