My Take
Ryohei Michibuchi is exactly the kind of player I find myself rooting for the hardest — not the guy whose face ends up on every billboard, but the one who actually makes the team function. Growing up in Miyagi and earning his way through Meiji University, one of the most competitive football programs in Japan, he clearly built his game on discipline and intelligence rather than raw hype. At 177cm he's not going to out-jump anyone at a set piece, so I imagine he's always had to be two steps smarter, reading the game and doing the unglamorous work that coaches love and highlight reels ignore. The kind of footballer who makes your squad better just by being in it.
