Ryūta Konno

There's something about a guy who comes out of Osaki, Miyagi — deep in Tohoku, where winters actually mean something — that makes me root for him before he's even thrown a pitch. At 178 cm he's built for the grind, and I picture him as the kind of player who earns his spot through sheer repetition and refuses to be the one who folds under pressure. The northeast of Japan has this reputation for producing people with real backbone, and I think that regional DNA matters more than people give it credit for. Not a lot of public noise around him, and honestly? That fits. Some guys let their Instagram do the talking, others let their glove or their arm speak. I have a feeling Konno is firmly in the second camp, and I'm quietly cheering for him from the sidelines.
