Sakura Inoue

Sakura Inoue was born in October 1999 in Mashiko, a small town in Tochigi Prefecture, went to Mogi High School, and won a prize at Horipro's 2015 talent search with a one-woman comedy routine and a Mr. Bean impression. She works as a tarento, the Japanese catch-all for a television personality who appears as herself rather than as a character. She did not come out of a Tokyo entertainment family or a talent-academy pipeline. She came from a rural town in Tochigi and ended up working on national television, in a profession where nobody hands you a script and your only real tool is being interesting for the ninety seconds the camera is pointed at you. She has moved from the children's show Oha Suta to co-hosting Shinkon-san Irasshai!, and in 2025 her first cookbook won a prize at Japan's Cookbook Awards. People in that job are often the ones who last longest, precisely because they were never propped up by a single hit that could stop working.
