Sandy Allen

Sandy Allen's story moves me beyond the Guinness record. Yes, at 231 cm she was recognized as the tallest woman in the world, but the number alone misses the person. Living so visibly different in a world quick to stare demands a strength most of us never have to summon. She died in 2008 at 53. I think the truest measure of her was not height but composure, the dignity she carried through constant attention. That is the part of her legacy I find genuinely admirable.
