My Take

Sergi Gomez is the kind of footballer I quietly admire more than the headline stars. Coming out of La Masia's orbit near Barcelona, he plays with the brain rather than just the body, and at 185 cm he reads danger before it arrives. What strikes me most is his journey: rather than fading after his early hype, he keeps reinventing himself, now turning out for Alverca in Portugal. That refusal to coast, the willingness to keep grinding in less glamorous leagues, says everything about his character. He is a craftsman defender, and I find that durability genuinely worth respecting.
