Shabadaba Fuji

Honestly, the name "Shabadaba Fuji" stopped me cold the first time I saw it — like, is that actually a stage name someone chose on purpose? The answer is apparently yes, and that alone tells you something. There's something weirdly compelling about a comedian who picks a name that sounds like a jazz scat riff and then just... rolls with it, building a career on pure vibe rather than a polished mainstream persona. He came through the eighth class of Tokyo NSC and kept going solo after his duo partner retired in 2011, and that alone makes me root for him to keep going.
