My Take
Shahadi Wright Joseph fascinates me because of her sheer range at such a young age. In a single year she terrified audiences in Jordan Peele's "Us" and voiced the sweetly innocent young Nala in "The Lion King." Pulling off horror and tenderness almost simultaneously takes instincts most performers spend decades developing. Add singing and dancing to the mix and you have a genuine triple threat who refuses to be boxed in. I find myself genuinely curious about how she'll transition into adult roles, because the ceiling here looks remarkably high. She is one to watch.
