Shannon Leto

Shannon Leto deserves more credit than he gets, in my view. As the drummer and co-founder of Thirty Seconds to Mars, he is the structural backbone of a band whose dramatic, expansive sound simply does not work without a steady pulse underneath. His brother Jared draws the spotlight, but the older Leto is the quiet engine. I am drawn to artists who build the foundation rather than chase attention, and the fact that he is also a photographer and producer signals real range. There is something admirable about a craftsman content to keep the rhythm while others take the bows.
