My Take

I admire journalists with backbone, and Sharyl Attkisson clearly has it. A University of Florida graduate from Sarasota, she built her name in network television, earned five Emmy Awards and a coveted Edward R. Murrow Award, and now drives her own investigative program, Full Measure. Her adversarial, no-deference approach divides audiences, but I think a press that refuses to flatter power is doing its actual job. Whether or not you agree with every conclusion she reaches, her willingness to keep asking uncomfortable questions decades into her career is exactly the stubbornness investigative reporting needs to survive. That persistence is what earns my respect.
