My Take

Shawn "Solo" Fonteno is a fascinating case of life feeding directly into art. An LA-born rapper and actor, he is best known as the voice and motion-capture behind Franklin Clinton in Grand Theft Auto V, a role he reprised for GTA Online in 2021. What I find compelling is how much of his own background informed that performance, giving Franklin a lived-in authenticity that scripted casting rarely achieves.
