My Take
Ishiba has always struck me as the rare politician who would rather be right than popular, and that stubborn earnestness is exactly why I find him compelling. He spent decades representing Tottori, building a reputation as a defense wonk who actually reads the briefing papers, before finally reaching the premiership in 2024. His swift resignation in 2025 felt characteristic: principled, perhaps to a fault. I respect a public figure who returns to his roots rather than chasing the capital's glamour. Whether or not you agree with his politics, the man clearly thinks before he speaks, and that earns my quiet admiration.
