Shirlie Holliman is living 1980s history, and I mean that as high praise. Standing beside George Michael in Wham! and later charting as half of Pepsi & Shirlie, she mastered the hardest job in pop: making someone else shine while still glowing yourself. The backing singer who can truly sing and dance is rarer and more skilled than the spotlight ever admits.
