Ski Mask the Slump God

Ski Mask the Slump God is one of those rappers I find more compelling the longer I sit with him. The cartoonish name and multicolored durags are easy to underestimate, but his rapid, syllable-warping flow has a genuine restlessness, and the nostalgic production gives it real texture. What sticks with me is the context: a kid from Fort Lauderdale who helped build Members Only alongside XXXTentacion, a scene defined as much by loss as by hype. I read his playfulness as a kind of armor. He carries the weight of a generation that grieved early, and that tension between levity and grief is exactly what keeps me listening.
