My Take
Sho Ito went from Grenoble to Shimizu, Yokohama F. Marinos, Kashima and Yokohama FC before retiring in 2026, and here's what I know: standing 184cm tall as a striker in Japanese football is basically being a human landmark on the pitch, and the guy made that count for years. Born in Kasugai, Aichi — not exactly the glamour capital of world football — and grinding his way into the professional game takes a kind of stubbornness that stat sheets never capture. Strikers have the loneliest job in any sport: you can work your lungs out for 89 minutes, miss three sitters, and the whole match gets remembered for the one that didn't go in. The fact that Ito kept showing up, kept running the channels, kept believing the next one was going in — that's the part I respect most. Yeah, I'd want him bearing down on my back four too.
