Shota Koseki

Shota Koseki is one of those players who makes me genuinely curious in a low-key way — a Fukuoka kid from Kokuraminami, Kitakyushu, which is exactly the kind of blue-collar baseball heartland that tends to produce guys who are all grit and zero flash. He caught for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in NPB from 2014 to 2016, then kept playing in the industrial leagues with Nippon Steel Kazusa Magic. But there's something about the profile that reads as quietly determined rather than spotlight-chasing, and that kind of player earns my respect on principle. Kyushu baseball tends to build that type — heads-down, methodical, not the guy on magazine covers but the guy who shows up every single day. I find myself rooting for him based on vibe alone, which honestly says something.
