Shuhei Kojima

Shuhei Kojima is one of those baseball guys who quietly earns your respect the longer you pay attention. Born in 1987 in Ota City, Gunma, he made it into pro baseball at 177cm, which in Japan's NPB is totally workable, but it still takes real conviction to grind through a professional career at that frame. What I find genuinely interesting is that he didn't just play and disappear: he's also worked as a coach, which tells me the guy thinks about the game seriously enough to want to pass it on. That transition from player to instructor is harder than it looks — plenty of talented players are terrible teachers. No big splashy headlines, just someone who showed up and kept going.
