Sigrid

Sigrid represents, to me, everything refreshing about Scandinavian pop. Emerging from the coastal town of Ålesund, she pairs effortless, unpolished charm with hooks that genuinely stick, as Don't Kill My Vibe and Strangers prove. The fact that she writes her own songs and plays guitar and piano signals real substance behind the catchiness. Winning the BBC Sound of 2018 and an MTV Europe Music Award confirmed she was no flash in the pan. I prefer artists who feel grounded and human rather than manufactured, and Sigrid's down-to-earth voice keeps her firmly on my playlist year after year.
