My Take
What I most respect about Sydnee Steele is her reinvention. The Dallas native built a celebrated career, appearing in over 300 films, winning AVN Awards and entering the AVN Hall of Fame before retiring in 2005. But the part that interests me is what came next: she became a sex therapist and author. Reaching the top of one demanding field and then deliberately stepping into a new intellectual life takes real courage and self-possession. I admire people who refuse to be defined by a single chapter and keep updating who they are. Her monthly AVN column on pornography, sexuality and free speech gives that second act genuine conviction.
