My Take
T.J. Dillashaw is one of the most technically gifted fighters the UFC's bantamweight division has ever seen — a guy who knocked off Renan Barão when Barão was riding a 32-fight unbeaten streak and looked practically unbeatable. That upset in 2014 was genuinely stunning. What I admire about Dillashaw is the footwork and the constant level-changing; he fights like someone who actually studied the craft rather than just got tough. The EPO suspension in 2019 obviously casts a shadow, and I'm not going to pretend it doesn't — that was a serious breach that cost him the belt he'd just won from Henry Cejudo. But even accounting for that, the guy came back, competed for the title again in 2021 against Aljamain Sterling, and showed real heart. A complicated legacy, sure, but an undeniably exciting fighter to watch.
