My Take

Sandgren has, to me, one of the all-time great names in tennis: born in Gallatin, Tennessee, his first name is literally Tennys, as if destiny chose his racket for him. A 188 cm late bloomer who played two college years at Tennessee before turning pro, he peaked at world No. 41 and stunned everyone by reaching the 2018 Australian Open quarterfinals. He never cracked the top 10, but leaving a mark in such a brutal sport is no small feat. Between the name and the grit, he is genuinely memorable, and one of my favorite dark-horse stories.
