Teppei Koike

Okay, I have to talk about the face, because Teppei Koike has been quietly committing fraud against the aging process for like two decades. Born in 1986 down in Osaka, he hit the scene as this impossibly boyish singer-actor, guitar in hand, all dimples and easy charm, and I'll be honest, I initially filed him under "cute kid who'll fade." Wrong. The thing nobody warns you about is the talent underneath: he kept stacking up theater roles until he was hauling home the Kikuta Kazuo Drama Award, which is the kind of stage cred that does not come from a nice smile. That's what gets me about him. He had every excuse to coast on looks and instead turned into a genuinely sturdy stage actor. I love a quiet overachiever.
