Tetsuro Fukuyama

Tetsuro Fukuyama's map is crooked in a way I find interesting: born in Tokyo in 1962, educated at Kyoto University, and then a political base built in Kyoto itself. Winning and holding a seat in that city as someone from elsewhere is harder than a resume makes it sound, because Kyoto hands newcomers nothing. He spent years in the House of Councillors, where he became vice president in 2025, and when the Constitutional Democratic Party was founded he took the secretary-general's job, which is the person who assembles the plumbing rather than the one on the poster. In the Diet he is a detailed, persistent questioner, a style people either respect or find exhausting. Political verdicts flip depending on where you stand, so I will say only this: parties do not run without someone willing to do the unglamorous half.
